  1. Students will reconstruct through presentations, writing,discussions and performances the emergence and role of each social class within a society.

EL 3. Students will compare and contrast various forms of government and explain their evolution through time.

  1. Students will explain the correlation between social levels, power, and wealth.
  2. Students will describe the governments that developed in Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and the Middle Ages.
  3. Students will be able to describe the progression from monarchy to democracy in ancient Greece.
  4. Students can explain the relationship between types of governments and social classes that develop in a civilization as well as the success.

EL 4. Students analyze how technology evolved and impacted the development of ancient societies.

  1. Students will be able to identify prominent technological developments that have endured from Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and European Middles Ages. Examples: Algebra, math, wheel, irrigation, weaponry, medicine, architecture, tools, transportation, and how these affected what these societies contributed to the world.

EL 5. Students will distinguish between various religions and philosophical ideas comparing and contrasting their characteristics.

  1. Students will understand the role of religion and philosophy in government and how thier ideas are interwoven with the ancient governments of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome.

EL 6. Students will classify, illustrate, identify, compare, and evaluate the artistic and cultural achievements of various civilizations.

  1. Students will be able to identify the significance of specific artiistic contributions of each of the ancient civilizations.
  2. Students will be able to describe art work as a record of human experience, interpret art work using criteria of art history.
